1st November 1972
Lost at hockey. One consolation though as we had shooting practice and I came top with 14 out of 18. I got an offer from Hull University of a B C and D so I think I will hang on to that one.
2nd November 1974
I was supposed to be going to the Man United game but missed it as I got up too late, and they won 4-0. Notts won 5-0. Went to see 10 cc at Manchester Uni at night and they were excellent until someone threw a plastic glass at Eric Stewart while he was playing the guitar upside down on stage. He had a major strop and threatened to stop playing until the guy was thrown out. We met the band afterwards as they asked for directions to get out of the building. We sent them out of the main entrance where everyone was waiting for them. I think they were actually asking for the back entrance! Met Elaine and lots of people we knew at the end.
3rd November 1972
Had the afternoon off school as its prizegiving tonight. Everyone came round to our house instead and rang girls up to invite them to Olly's party. Mop, Di, Anne Buckler and me then went down to Speech Day together.
4th November 1972
There was no hockey match in the morning but Mop came in the afternoon and we went over to Beeston for rugby with Bram. Ollys party at night. It was a bit quiet although we did have a real disco and it was OK.
5th November 1969
Messed about at lunchtime with Liz Poole, Hodgie and Linda. At about 7 Hodgie and I went out but we couldn't get any fireworks as the shops were all sold out or shut. We met Gobbo and went looking for Grat, eventually finding him in the Westdale Tavern with hanks and Bram. We went down to post office square to see if we could any bangers but no luck! Met the others at Conway Road and threw a few bangers about, then walked back via Gedling Youth Club up to Dons. Went back to the Tavern for another drink and down to the off license. Bram was sick outside Dons so we carried him to his aunties and left him with her!
6th November 1971
Got up late. The others went into town but Tats came up and we played billiards instead. Went to Notts v Mansfield in the afternoon and Notts won 2-0.Went round to Tats at night. We discovered Angie had a party and didn't invite us. Read Suedehead when I got home.
7th November 1975
Rang Hank up and we went round to surprise Dennis as she didn't know I was home for the weekend. We went down to the Marquis and then back to Dens for coffee.
8th November 1975
Felt rough as I have now got a cough and I am back in Nottingham for the weekend. Went up to Ollys party in Sheffield which turned out to be a great reunion with Grat, Bert, Dio, Olly, Hilary, Hodgie, Me, Hank, Dennis, Mop, Geoff and Paula.
9th November 1971
Bought some toffee and went to a disco as it was Effort Week. It was also the staff versus school rugby match. Tried to find Bill so we could have a disco but we couldn't find him. Stayed in and watched TV at night.
10th November 1969
Effort week started. We got old clothes from the props room at break and in the maths lesson we all dressed up. When the bell went we made our way to the dining room and Mr Gutteridge played the banjo and trumpet while we made our way around the hall and the staff table. We had a chemistry test and I got an awful result. At night I went up to my cousins and saw her baby for the first time. Watched the High Chapparal and Counterstrike.
11th November 1969
Watched the pogo championships at break. Watched twister at lunchtime - Trev played Mr Langton and Mr Peel played Miss Eckersley. Bought some cakes then had a bio test and got 13 out of 20! Went in the gym while the girls had a hockey test and then watched the rugby match with Liz, Elaine, Linda, Babs, Trev, Pete, Dibbo etc. Gaye Payne put shampoo over everyone. Went to the library at night and had an early night.
12th November 1972
It was a Sunday and the sixth form walk. It absolutely poured it down with rain all day and we were soaked and freezing. Got back about seven and rang Diane for two and a half hours.
13th November 1973
At Uni - we were supposed to have Cytology practical but were told to go over to the chemistry department to watch a film instead. We arrived there and nothing seemed to be happening so me and Gordon schived off and went up to Hime and Addison to get tickets for Al Stewart and to find out about tickets for the Faces concert. We were told the concert wasn't confirmed and they wouldn't know about tickets for ten days. At night we stayed in but went down to the TV room to watch Al Stewart on Old Grey Whistle Test then stayed up quite late.
14th November 1973
Boycotted lectures because of the grants campaign and went to the teach in at Reynolds Building instead. The first lecture was a hilarious history of sex and birth control! Then I had a sleep in preparation for tonight. It was an all night film show at UMIST which started at 8 and went on until 6.15 in the morning. They had Edna the Inebriate Woman, The Magic Christian, Circus of Fear, Scream and scream again (with Vincent Price, Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing) and Valley of the Dolls. At 6.15 we went up to O floor and played bridge until 7.45 then went for breakfast.
15th November 1972
Had games in the daytime. At night I did some revision and Fiona Campbell rang me and Tats up.
16th November 1972
Went out with Johnno to Newark and had a wrestling match with Diane. We stopped by the river and the grass was frosty as it was a brilliant clear night.
17th November 1973
Gordon came round and knocked for me about 10.00 so we went into Manchester. I sold him a Faces ticket for my first ever Rod Stewart concert and we went to the Free Trade Hall to see if we could get any more for Dave, but couldn't. We bought food and brought back to Wright Robbo to cook it then I did some work in the afternoon. Notts beat Bolton 3-1 away and Forest won 3-0. Didn't do anything much at night as I was broke - watched Kung Fu and played table football.
18th November 1971
Went to the Film Club at school and saw Goldfinger. Talked to Ellen on the way home. Stayed in at night and watched Top of the Pops.
19th November 1969
Did Romeo and Juliet in English and answered questions in Biology. Went in for dinner on prio and went to Carol choir practice. Mr Gutteridge started the maths club. In the afternoon had geography, french, then English. Babs had fainted in her physics lesson so she wasn't at Richardson's shop as usual on the way home. At home I did some of my project work and went to bed early. Apollo 12 landed and put men on the moon again!
20th November 1976
A very complicated day! Did the food shopping for the week which was 5.00 each! Did nothing much in the afternoon and Simon came round for his tea. I was going to stay in and do my report for Mike but decided to go out as it was Saturday night and we had heard rumours that G was having a party! We went to the Toblerones to check and some guy who answered the door said he might be. We went off to the Grafton to find him and thought he wasn't there but there was some skinhead playing pool who turned out to be G with his hair cut! He was very pleased to see us as he had been feeling guilty about not inviting us. Celia, Martini and Alison were there as well as Tony, Alex and Gs mates. Carolyn and Pam came in but I didn't see them. I was talking to a student nurse for ages and then decided to go over and fetch Cath and Strach about 1 a.m. but they weren't in. Eventually Simon gave me a lift home and then threw up when he got in!

The snow we had yesterday melted because of rain. I did my homework and listened to music all afternoon, then Bert came round for a while.
22nd November 1971
Hilary is having a party so we spent a lot of time inviting people. Ellen said she would come. Tats told Diane that Bert was going out with Angie Dawson and they all believed him. Bert, Webby and Hodgie came round at night.
23rd November 1974
Went to see Rod Stewart and the Faces and they were Brilliant. Support was Strider and Bill Barclay the comedian. They played for ages and did Twisting the Night Away as an encore.
24th November 1972
Asked Diane to go out with me but somehow I don't think she thinks I am serious - she just laughs! At night we went up to Anna's house and her American friend came.
25th November 1971
Went to Stoke on Trent for a school trip but I had a bad cold and felt grotty. We sang all the way there on the bus which didn't help! At lunch we went in the pub and played darts and then went to the Theatre to see Measure for Measure. TAF O Toole stopped us singing on the bus on the way back. Tats, Bert and Hodgie came back to my house afterwards and we phoned Ellen.
26th November 1973
Stayed in at night to get some work done. The Arab Israeli war is on - they are having peace talks but still fighting. Uri Geller became famous for bending spoons on Saturday night! They are issuing ration books for petrol on Thursday. There are power cuts because of striking electricity workers, the miners are on strike and even the ambulance drivers!
27th November 1971
Pete came round in the morning and I stayed in in the afternoon. At night it was Hilary's party and the pairings seemed to be myself and Ellen, Tats and Coral, Dio and Angie. Olly and Gwynneth packed up.
28th November 1973
Went on a trip around Manchester. It started snowing at 11.40 and after our geology lecture it was settling. By the time of our trip it was quite thick even in central Manchester. We saw all the slum areas and then went out to Oldham, where we had a snowball fight. We were supposed to get great views of Manchester but couldn't see because of the snow. Trafford Park industrial area was next and the ship canal. Ruth came at night and Ruth, Ed and myself sat up until 1.45 talking.
29th November 1972
Played the Tech at hockey and beat them 2-1. The second XI lost 3-2. Went to Moor Farm at night.
30th November 1971
Bert nicked Ellen's book at lunchtime. I got it back for her but couldn't find her at 4 to give it back so took it home. Stayed in at night.
