Real interesting about your Stint at M'cr University that you account during the Rod Stewart concert phase; or perhaps that should be t'other way round. I lived in a shared house of M'cr Uni students down on Whalley Range or Rushholme, though I wasn't in Uni myself, just volunteering at 178, Oxford St, the Union building -where Uhuru the 3rd World Student-union shop was. We all did a lot of Gigs at the FTH. So, this would be in 1976 through '77. I saw Santana, do the full ‘Moonflower’ set, Crosby & Nash (who's actually from Blackpool) doing a 'Wind on the Water' gig and also Emmylou Harris. The Sex Pistols kicked off at the Lesser Free Trade Hall and I remember resisting the urge to join in pogo-ing to some band, who may have been either the Pistols or 'Slaughter & The Dogs' one of the first, but after Mcr's own 'The Buzzcocks'. Of course I don’t hail from your own school, but I don’t have any contact with my own old crowd so interesting to make the connections.

I used to DJ at Clarences Club in Halifax in the early 70s. Nutz played there a couple of times and were brilliant, a really nice bunch of lads too. I bought the first Nutz album then and have had it ever since but hadn't heard it for many years since I went digital. Last week I bought a turntable, dug it out and played it again. What a great album - it's weathered really well and the songs have a timeless feel that reminds me of (if I dare say it) The Las. I'm delighted to have rediscovered it. Respect to the band and all Nutz fans, young and old!
Rod.

hi what a brilliant site - it must have taken you ages - where do you get any time for a life, too?!? I saw my name in a couple of party entries so maybe some of you out there wlll vaguely remember me - i certainly remember lots of your names. I was in Gwyneth and Coral's year but not their form - I started in 1967 in 1W with Alan Ward as my first form teacher - I think he'd just joined the school, arriving part way through term or the year with a broken leg and he made me and Greg Marks form captains. The broken leg could be false memory syndrome, which is rife at my time of life, particularly just now. This is because I've just been through a few months of reliving memories of those teen years as a result of a blog my cousin, Terry Wright, set up, earlier this year, to reunite and keep in touch with old friends and family while he was ill with cancer. Some of you might remember my gorgeous cousin Terry - he too was at le Willows, from 1968 through to 1975/6 - he stayed on an extra year. Terry lived abroad since his early 20s, latterly living in the US Virgin Islands. But I'm afraid he's no longer blogging - more sad news, really awful for us all -Terry died on May 3 this year (the day Forest got promoted....what a day - I rang his wife and asked him to whisper it to him) By the way, Olly if you're reading this, do you remember you and me going to see Forest in the Cup at Newcastle and us being there for the infamous pitch invasion??? Blimey this is all over the shop. Funny place the past and what it does to the present. Anyway, great reading all this stuff. By the way, I heard about this site through Angie Ward who's been in touch on Terry's site. I hope to see Angie before too long as we've discovered we're both living in London. Good to see her in the old hockey photos. I have the big photo too. And lots of hockey photos from when I was in our team but you seem to have enough of those. Coral you look exactly the same. And was that Elaine Smith in some of those Coral reunion photos? Must stop! Cheers, Sally xxxx

I was at the CSN&Y 1974 Wembley gig, for sure (no failure of memory there), never heard any recordings of it b4.
Have a younger associate, (~28 yrs) who went to see Neil Young down on a farm in Kent a few weeks ago and will be sending him a link to these audio files you have.
Not bad memorabilia really, I suppose. Adds to the few very indistinct memories I have of that day. I even thought until today that this Gig was in 1978, by when I was living in London. So I had to have travelled down from Blackpool (see Military Madness by Nash — My song). Probably hitch hiked, again no recollection, though probably also true just a year after the event.
Interesting stuff memory lane; seems easier than Genealogy, particularly for me, since I went to what turns out to be quite a large number of gigs back in the day!

Great! Thanks for the memories ...

Hi,
I saw Nutz many years ago at the first ever open air concert to be held in Ireland, it was in Macroom, County Cork and Rory Gallagher headlined, Nutz were absolutley brilliant and next day I bought all of their albums and played them to death, what a brilliant brilliant band, I wonder are there any live bootloegs around of them?

On Wednesday 28th May, the Nottingham Evening Post (also known as thisisnottingham) published an article about the Boat Club. Sassafras and Nutz were mentioned amongst the cream of bands to appear there. Also mentioned was a book about the Boat Club called Down at the Boat, which is available by post for £6.50. It can be obtained by ringing the Boat Club on 0115 981 1251 for further instructions. Anyone interested?

What a wonderful thing the Internet is. Only ( metaphoracly speaking ) on the Internet can you go back in time and re live your youth. I was ( am ) in my Internet Cafe, ''Googling'' old bands that I used to go see at The Marquee Club, in Wardour St London. I first ''Googled'' Woody Woodmany's U Boat ( successfully ) Then a band called Upp ( featuring Jeff Beck, but never knew that till very recently, when Upp re issued there old albums on CD. I read in the CD booklet about JBs connection with them. Amazing!! ) My final Google search was for a band called Nutz. To my amazement, up they popped. I still have Nutz 2 on Vinyl. Even after 30 yrs it STILL sounds excellent. I also have Nutz 2 and ( I think ) Hard Nutz on CD. I used to go see Nutz at The Marquee, with friend called Paul Taylor ( and several other friends ) I mention Paul Taylor because years later he changed his name to Paul Dianno, and sang for a little band called ( drumroll Nicko please ) IRON MAIDEN. YES! THE Iron Maiden. Probably THE BIGGEST British Heavy Metal Band in the world today. And he sang with Maiden at The Marquee. We used to think Nutz were GREAT! Saw then several times. Great memories. Thanks.
